Abiu (Pouteria caimito)

  • The abiu is a tropical fruit from South America.

  • The abiu grows on an evergreen tropical fruit tree.

  • The fruit weighs about half a kilogram.

  • The ripe fruit is bright yellow and has a thick skin. The flesh has a caramel taste.

  • The fruit contains from one to five seeds.
