Ingredients # Indian gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica)

Indian gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica)

  • Amla fruit is another common name for this fruit.

  • This fruit tree is grown in the warmer parts of India as a crop. It's fairly hardy and can withstand periods of drought.

  • The fruit is very high in vitamin C, second only to acerola cherries. This makes it taste a bit bitter.

  • In traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, this fruit is a key component of triphala.

  • The dried fruit has detergent properties and is used as a hair shampoo.

  • The amla oil extracted from the fruit is one of the world's oldest, natural hair conditioners, to put back the sparkle in your hair.
