Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana)
Mangosteen
is a slow growing tropical tree from Southeast Asia, and is found
throughout the region.
The fruits
are a deep purple when ripe.
To eat the
fruit, cut open across the rind. The whitish fruit inside is fragrant,
sweet, creamy and slightly lemony too. The rind is bitter.
