Sapodilla (Chikoo) (Manilkara zapota)

Sapodilla is a long-lived, evergreen tree native to the New World tropics.
The fruit is a plumb sized berry that looks like a smooth-skinned potato. Inside, its flesh ranges from a pale yellow to an earthy brown colour. It tastes sweet and delicious. Avoid the hard black seeds.
In the UK you can buy sapodilla from the Asian shops. They are displayed as Chikoo.
